Customer Questions & Expert Answers
- Q:
How to Remove and Install the Fuel Pump/Fuel Level Sending Unit Module on Dodge Ram 3500? Posted by Customer
- A:
The fuel pump/fuel level sending unit module consists of the fuel filter/fuel pressure regulator, electric fuel pump assembly (including the fuel pump inlet filter), and fuel level sending unit. To remove and install the module, the entire assembly must be replaced as none of the components can be replaced individually. Start by relieving the fuel system pressure and disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. Then, raise the vehicle and secure it on jackstands. Remove the fuel tank and clean the area around the fuel pump/fuel level sending unit to prevent dirt from entering the tank. Mark the position of the arrow on the fuel pump module for proper installation. Use pliers or a hammer and brass drift to loosen and unscrew the lock-ring, and carefully remove the fuel pump/fuel level sending unit module from the tank. Inspect the large rubber gasket sealing the mounting hole and replace if damaged. When installing the module, align the embossed arrow properly. The installation process is the reverse of removal.

- Q:
What should be done if the pump does not come on for the 2010 Dodge Ram 2500? Posted by Customer
- A:
If the pump does not come on, check the fuses in the underhood fuse/relay box. If the fuses are okay, check the wiring back to the fuel pump. If everything is okay, the fuel pump is probably defective.
- Q:
How can the fuel pump be checked for the 2010 Dodge Ram 3500? Posted by Customer
- A:
The fuel pump can be checked by turning the ignition key to ON and listening for the sound of the pump briefly turning on.
